In this role, I redesigned and revised courses within the Master of Computer Science program on the Coursera open education platform. I also reviewed graduate-level courses for quality assurance.
In the Teaching Innovation Center, I supported faculty and graduate teaching assistants with their teaching. I provided guidance for course design and development, as well as training for educational technologies that support student learning. Our department focused on active learning, adaptive learning, and engaging students especially in courses with large enrollments (300+). I supported all faculty with both in-person, hybrid, and online courses, using the Canvas platform. A key initiative was the support for online labs completed in a virtual reality environment. I provided training and support for implementing online labs in courses. I was promoted from Instructional Designer Associate in February 2020.
I am Quality Matters Peer Reviewer certified.

Master's of Computer Science, various graduate-level courses
Using a spreadsheet format to link to directly each page within a course, I provided course design correction notes, revision suggestions, and indicators of accuracy. Primarily looking for grammatical, spelling, course design structure, link errors, consistency in naming conventions, due dates, best practices for evidence-based online learning (considering inclusive practices and Universal Design for Learning), and overall course narrative flow.
School of Life Sciences- various undergraduate and graduate-level biology courses
Our team created standards for our school's courses, which were derived from Quality Matters, OSCQR, and the Peralta Rubric.
We spent a summer teaching faculty and teaching assistants how to review their online courses to align with the school's standards. We created revision plans based on high-priority edits to create improved learner experiences.
Quality Matters - External Reviewer
Participating in a full course review of an undergraduate course at an institution that was not my own, was a fascinating experience. I provided feedback that aligned with the Quality Matters standards and was greatly impressed to see how other courses are designed. I learned about practices that other universities follow, as well as ideas for course design structure that I had not seen before.
